Reflecting on the racing season as we look forward to the next

Anyone who works within the motorsport industry will be able to tell you the sense of relief that floods over you when the racing season draws to a close. It’s the feeling of knowing that all your hard work has paid off and that the season has ultimately been a success.

Taking part in multiple competitive championships is full of highs and lows, consecutive racing weekends and exciting developments. Last year, Red Marlin was fortunate enough to attend several race events (including the 24 Hours of Le Mans) to provide social media and PR support for our motorsport clients.

At these events, we worked closely with our clients to create fresh and exciting social media content while also optimising the teams’ exposure through creating positive relationships with media outlets. And as the 2022 season approaches, we are hungry for more.

However, 24-hour races challenge you both physically and mentally, forcing you to fight against tiredness. Even if you do have the chance to get a couple hours of rest in the midst of all the madness, you can’t escape the sound of the constant stream of cars tearing about the circuit lap after lap deep into the night. But this really highlights the dedication each member of a team has to the sport and their craft – from the drivers, technicians and engineers to those taking care of hospitality, marketing and logistics.

We know already that the 2022 season will bring with it fresh challenges and new horizons to explore and having an established PR and social media strategy in place has prepared us for the busy season ahead of us.

Indeed, this jampacked season has a lot in store for our clients with a return to both the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Spa among six championship campaigns. Alongside this, Red Marlin is working with multiple teams to boost their brands outside of the motorsport sphere with new influencers set to join throughout the season expanding this reach.

We know it will be hard work. Nothing in motorsport is easy, especially if you want to operate at the highest levels of the sport. Despite this, all the blood, sweat and tears are worth it when you see the cars return home in first place, making history and fighting against the very best within the sport.

Working in motorsport is such a fulfilling and rewarding experience that is difficult to describe to those who have never experienced it. Paddocks are melting pots of international talent with people from across the globe united through a passion for racing. It’s an addictive environment which can be difficult to leave.

There is never a dull day when you’re working with our motorsport clients. Every day provides a new adventure and we can’t wait to see what the 2022 season has in store.
