October's automotive marketing agency highlights

October’s automotive marketing agency highlights

As a respected digital marketing agency, no two months are ever the same at Red Marlin, with October being no exception.

Our month was packed with incredible media coverage for our clients, across a range of respected and popular media outlets.

This included highlighting the most stressful cities in the UK for parking, putting a spotlight on collisions caused by parked cars, strong interest around a successful classic car auction, and advice to drivers on how to possibly prevent thousands of crashes.

In addition, there was kick off support for a creator of bespoke luxury vehicles and a visit to the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) CTS show at Silverstone.

Read on to discover what happened at Red Marlin in October.

Park strife…UK’s most stressful cities for parking makes national headlines

Parking a car is a daily occurrence for many, but for drivers in some cities it appears to be harder than elsewhere.

Our media work for YourParkingSpace, the UK’s leading parking marketplace, identified these hotspots, with Norwich taking the unenviable hotspot, as highlighted in the national press in the Sun online, and more locally by popular Norwich Evening News.

The work provided a great opportunity for YourParkingSpace to advise motorists on how to avoid stressful parking situations by pre-booking a parking space, ensuring it’s guaranteed, good value and close to their end destination.

Raising road safety in the media

Not content with one bite of high-profile media coverage in October, we also secured more national press coverage for YourParkingSpace by using government data from the Department for Transport that is issued at this time of year.

Focusing on a relevant angle for our client, we highlighted that more than 20,000 reported collisions were caused by a stationary or parked vehicle blocking drivers’ vision in the period 2014-2024.

It was an important opportunity for YourParkingSpace, allowing them to issue some important and valuable safety advice, which was highlighted across media outlets, including the Daily Record and Yahoo.

Hammer time for successful auction

Mid-October was a busy time for our client H&H Classics as it held its largest ever Buxton classic car auction and also prepared for its classic motorbike and vintage scooter auction, which it held at the end of the month.

Almost 120 lots were successfully hammered away in Derbyshire, and prior to the sale we secured valuable media coverage across various news outlets, such as Luxury Lifestyle, who were keen to showcase the exquisite cars to prospective buyers.

Motorbikes also took centre stage ahead of the auction at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, not least an iconic Barry Sheene motorbike, as featured in the highly respected Visordown.

Highlighting the Highway Code

Road safety was also on the media agenda for TrackDays.co.uk. Scrutinising official sources, we identified that almost 2,500 reported collisions in the past decade were caused by vehicle doors being opened into the path of passing cyclists, motorcyclists or pedestrians.

The importance of checking before opening a door is made clear in the Highway Code, Rule 239.

However, using the Dutch Reach technique can help prevent thousands of crashes on Britain’s roads, a message that we secured press coverage for in high-domain authority websites, such as Birmingham Live.

Timely advice for classic car owners

October was also an appropriate time for us to issue advice to classic car owners on behalf of restoration specialist Clayton Classics.

This included website content centred around how to prepare a classic car for winter storage, with tips such as suitable storage and checking vital fluids.

Making time for Silverstone

Our managing director, Danny Rughoobeer, made tracks for the home of British motorsport when he attended the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) CTS show.

It was the perfect setting for Danny to meet up with old colleagues and customers, while a great opportunity to learn about the newest technologies and engineering solutions affecting motorsport.
