May’s automotive PR agency highlights
May was a bumper month for both our clients, and the automotive PR agency team at Red Marlin. Even though there was less time in the office with a brace of bank holidays, we enjoyed one of our busiest months with events, press coverage and awards. Here are some of our highlights from May.
Making the national news
We have a proven record of our PR and media relations work creating national headlines for YourParkingSpace, and May was no different.
The leading online parking platform prominently featured in the Daily Express, both online and in print, after data from YourParkingSpace showed how much money was being earned by residents in certain postcodes by renting out their driveways as parking spaces.
From this information, the team at Red Marlin developed the news hook, crafted a press release and reached out to our journalist contacts to achieve widespread earned media coverage.
Hammer time in Buxton
Renowned auction house H&H Classics held a successful auction at the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, with some incredible results.
In the build-up to the auction, the team at Red Marlin scoured the lot listing for notable entries. These interesting classics were used to leverage media interest in the upcoming auction via press announcements, including with our trusted contacts in the classic car and motoring press.
As a result, pre-sale press releases highlighting the auction generated coverage in a variety of news outlets and specialist magazines, while Red Marlin team members attended the auction to offer on-event support.
A number of lots were hammered away for significantly above their pre-sale estimates, including a stunning 1961 Jaguar MkII 3.8 which sold for £76,500 against a guide price of £40,000-£50,000.
Making the most of the news across the country
May saw a culmination of coverage for popular driving experience provider DrivingExperience.com with a story aimed at helping learner drivers.
Eighty-three regional news outlets across the UK, including the Hereford Times, were keen to highlight the most common driving test faults, with advice from DrivingExperience.com on how to avoid them.
It’s a great example of how, with some thought and insight, things that happen in everyday life can be given a news hook and an opportunity for companies to feature in the press.
Speaking opportunities, award shortlist and Downing Street visit
This month was also busy for AI startup Secondmind, which develops cloud-native software products to solve the most complex problems in vehicle design and development with advanced, data efficient AI and machine learning.
We secured a speaking slot for a representative from the company to speak at Automotive Testing Expo in Germany, where it was also shortlisted for a prestigious simulation innovation accolade following our work on a series of award entries.
Additionally, Secondmind’s Chief Product Officer, Morgan Jenkins, gave a technical presentation at the NAFEMS World Congress, while CEO Gary Brotman, represented Secondmind as part of a previous Tech Nation Future Fifty Cohort welcoming the first of this year’s selected scaleups, in attendance with Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer in Downing Street.
Automotive PR agency on the road
Red Marlin’s managing director Danny Rughoobeer joined client Yokohama at Donington Park to enjoy all the action at the second round of the Time Attack Championship which sees competitors running on Yokohama tyres.
Danny, and Red Marlin account director Harriet Evans, also attended the Coventry and Warwickshire Champions Breakfast Meeting, featuring keynote speakers such as former Nuneaton MP Sir Marcus Jones and Ken McConomy, Head of Global PR at JLR.
It was hosted at The Manufacturing Technology Centre at Ansty Park, which was a great location to talk about the region’s growth, in the place where the next generation of engineering and manufacturing learners are trained for industry.
Danny was also invited to RHS Chelsea Flower Show to discuss sponsorship opportunities for current, and future, clients.
