PR Hits & Misses

There’s a BRITS theme to this week’s PR Hits & Misses. A host of PR gold, as well as PR disasters, were on show at the awards hosted at London’s O2 last night. In fact the build up to the ceremony was probably more exciting than the evening itself! Here’s our pick of some of the highlights.

HIT

Paddy Power

Paddy Power

Another fantastic PR stunt from the team at Paddy Power. Two trouser-less Daft Punk lookalikes infiltrated last night’s Awards. The doppelgangers soaked up the limelight on the red carpet before stripping off to reveal a matching pair of Paddy Power’s lucky pants.

HIT

Brits 2014 Social Media

Another example of the power of social media. The Brit Awards 2014 generated a record breaking 4.17 million tweets, making it the most tweeted-about TV show ever in the UK. There was even a social vote for Best British Video, a first at the awards.

MISS

House PR

Brits 2014

It’s not often that the PR agency itself is at the centre of a bad publicity storm. But that’s exactly what the PR agency appointed by MasterCard found itself in yesterday after it sent out emails to a number of journalists asking them to agree to a number of conditions in return for their ticket, including a set number of tweets using the hashtage #PricelessSurprises. Moral of the story? Don’t make silly requests to journalists.

MISS

David Bowie

David Bowie

Although we’re huge fans of the rock legend we can’t help but think he missed a trick last night by not making an appearance to collect his award for Best British Male.
