July’s automotive PR agency highlights
July was another busy month for automotive PR agency Red Marlin, even with the arrival of the summer holiday season.
Valuable media coverage was secured for our clients across a range of renowned publications, including the national and regional press, together with special interest outlets.
There was also a highly prestigious restoration win for one of our classic car clients, while our very own daredevil MD took the plunge above the clouds!
Read on to find some of our highlights from July.
An epic win for an epic project
A huge round of applause for classic car restorer, Clayton Classics, who won the Classic Cars magazine ‘Epic Restoration of the Year’ for its amazing work on a 1931 Austin Seven Swallow.
Following our work on media relations award activity, and social media promotion, Clayton Classics received an incredible level of support from readers of the popular magazine, receiving 21 per cent of the votes among the 12 superb restoration projects to choose from.
Judges said voters recognised Clayton’s traditional coach-built craftsmanship, plus its Jaguar history.
However, it was a double celebration for the Coventry based business as its meticulous work on a 1962 Jaguar E-Type was also shortlisted as a finalist.

Summer driving advice makes multiple headlines
There was continued high profile media success for TrackDays.co.uk. We helped them make the national and regional press with timely advice for motorists by highlighting how they might be breaking ‘little known’ summer themed Highway Code rules.
This includes dog owners letting their pet stick its head out of a car window when moving, wearing sunglasses and driving with flip flops.
The media coverage was a great example of using topical issues and positioning the client as a valuable source of information.
National debate for everyday motoring manoeuvre
The UK’s leading parking marketplace, YourParkingSpace, is no stranger to shaping the national news agenda thanks to our ongoing efforts.
This time the hot topic was pavement parking and a potential nationwide ban, which always divides opinion.
The Daily Express was one of many media outlets updating readers of the possible law changes, and used survey results from YourParkingSpace to give the story extra interest.
It proves the value in supplying newsrooms with additional assets, such as survey results or infographics, to give data-driven insights to their readers.
Build up to Buxton grabs the attention
Respected auction house H&H Classics returned to Derbyshire for its third Buxton auction of the year.
In the lead up to the end of July auction, we secured numerous pieces of media coverage, including overseas, highlighting some of the most noteworthy classic cars, thereby helping to raise interest among potential bidders.
International news outlets, as far afield as New Zealand, were among those keen to share the interesting lots with their readers, not least news of a chassis number one Lotus.
Danny’s breathtaking jump
And finally, outside the office, Red Marlin’s managing director, Danny Rughoobeer, showed his adventurous spirit by jumping out of an aeroplane!
Of course, he was in safe hands as it was a tandem skydive above the beautiful Norfolk countryside.
It’s the second time Danny’s done a parachute jump, so next on the list is swimming with sharks (perhaps).
